My Top 3 Favorite Books of all Time

I’m a reader. I guess I should say I was a reader. I mean, I’m currently reading a book that I’ve maxed out the number of times I can renew from the library. I used to read a book in two days! Motherhood…

I used to read one book after another after another. I have boxes of books from my childhood and a well-used library card. But sometimes a book stood out as one that was worth reading over again. And again. These are the top three books I would recommend. The first two are fiction books. Amazing stories. The third one is full of truths everyone could use in their lives. Check them out!

One Tuesday Morning

Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001? I was late for fifth grade. My brother had just been diagnosed with diabetes, and I was in the office with my parents discussing how our lives had changed… and then life changed for the whole world.

I don’t remember how I found this book or why I was interested in it. I remember being so immersed in the story that it felt real. It felt like it was really happening. I remember being curled up on my lavender comforter and sobbing when my little brother came in. I don’t recall why he came in, but he looked shocked and confused before promptly turning around and walking back out the door. Am I the only one who cries when I read?

Well, let me tell you, I have cried every single time I have read this book, and it’s been more than a couple times! The story is touching and real and heartbreaking. It is not based on real people, but it made 9/11 feel so much more real for me. I was 10 years old when the Twin Towers fell, and even though I “lived through it” and watched the aftermath on television, this book was instrumental in my understanding of that day.

The Secret Journal of Brett Colton

I actually do remember picking this book up in the bookstore; I just don’t remember why I decided to get it. I related to the main character because she was a teenage girl. That was it. And to be honest, the split story line of her reading the journal bugged me at first.

It was worth it to keep reading!

This book was touching and heartbreaking. It was balanced out by the normal, everyday life of a teenage girl and the sad story of her brother dying of cancer. Yet another book that has had me in tears every single time I’ve read it. It was entertaining but also a learning experience of what it might be like to go through such hard times or be close to someone going through those things.

It was very much a teenage girl read, but it was so darn good!

Girl, Stop Apologizing

I’m guessing a ton of people have already heard of this book. This book is what introduced me to Rachael Hollis. I saw a few people talk about it on Instagram and decided it was time I focus on reading a little more. So worth it. So many truths. So many things I needed to hear.

If you get this book, be sure to read it with a highlighter. Just know you may want to highlight the whole freaking book. It’s that good.

Have you read any of these? What did you think? I’d love to hear your all-time favorite books!
