Glasses Slipping? Been There, Found A Solution!

Glasses… I’m so grateful I have them and hate that I have to have them.

I got glasses in fifth grade and contacts before seventh grade. I didn’t get another pair of glasses until I was 20. Not even spare/back-up ones. That’s how much I hate them. But they are necessary. Sometimes my contacts irritate my eyes or I only get a few hours of sleep and can’t wear contacts 20+ hours a day for days on end.

While I hate feeling like I’m in a fishbowl, I especially hate how my glasses will not stay on my face! Continue reading “Glasses Slipping? Been There, Found A Solution!”

Bohemian Baby Shower

Who doesn’t love a baby shower?! Last year my sister had a bohemian baby shower and I thought I’d share a few pictures. Sadly, I didn’t take very many between getting things ready and taking care of my kids, but it was such a fun shower! Continue reading “Bohemian Baby Shower”

Breast Isn’t Always Best: Giving Up Pumping

When I was pregnant with my first baby, I didn’t give the whole breast milk versus formula debate a lot of thought. I had really only been exposed to formula, but I figured breastfeeding was worth a try. After three excruciatingly painful months (that I don’t know how I got through), I loved it. The One Thing Saving My Sanity With Baby #2

When I had my first baby, I spent hour after hour holding him and rocking him and reading while he slept in my arms. I cherish such times so much more with my second because, well, toddlers are busy. I can’t sit and hold my new baby all day, even when he needs to be held to sleep more than 15 minutes straight.

So, the one thing that is saving me this time around is babywearing. I was skeptical with my first. I tried it, but I just felt pregnant again. I couldn’t move as much as I wanted. Couldn’t lean over. Not to mention the fact that I was way too stressed about teaching him to sleep in his crib. Besides, I had the time to sit and hold him in my arms when I needed to. By the time I was pregnant with my second, I knew I had to give babywearing another go. Continue reading “The One Thing Saving My Sanity With Baby #2”

When Your Child Needs a Feeding Tube

My little one has a g-tube. And I am so glad. I never would have pictured it. We have medical supplies delivered monthly, hospital totes full of supplies around the house, an IV pole by the crib, and a slew of medical magnets, cards, and instruction sheets on the fridge. And I am glad. I am glad my son is thriving. I’m glad he’s getting the nutrition he needs. Most of all, I’m glad he got the g-tube before ever leaving the hospital. Why I Don’t Make My Toddler Say “Please”

I thought parenting would be easier. I mean, I knew it would be hard, but I didn’t know how hard. I thought things were cut and dry. I thought timeouts were as simple as putting the kid on a chair and setting a timer. I thought if I fed my kids fruits and veggies from the start they would eat healthy. And I thought I’d make my kids say “please” and “thank you.” Continue reading “Why I Don’t Make My Toddler Say “Please””

25 Days of Christ-Centered Christmas Music

I love Christmas time and usually start listening to Christmas music after Halloween. I know, I know, I’m one of those people. But the last few years I’ve noticed I’ve felt worn out on the music and the season by the time Christmas actually comes. Maybe it’s different because I’m an adult now. There’s more stress and more to do.

I’ve felt the need to bring some of the Christmas spirit and Christmas magic back this year, and I figured the best place to start was focusing on Christ. Continue reading “25 Days of Christ-Centered Christmas Music”

Gift Ideas for Truck Lovers

My three year old LOVES trucks. He’s obsessed. The whole drive to anywhere we go he points out every truck, trailer, and construction vehicle he sees. When we go on walks, he makes a point of finding every truck he can. I can’t believe how many he finds!

I know he would love trucks, trucks, and more trucks, but I also think it’s fun to mix it up a little and give him truck-related gifts as well. Here are some fun ideas to compliment all the trucks: Continue reading “Gift Ideas for Truck Lovers”
