I LOVE books. Always have. I don’t have a lot of time for the kinds of books I used to read anymore, but I have some children’s books I have enjoyed reading with my son. You know, the types of books you can handle reading over and over again without going completely crazy.

There are so many books out there that it can be hard to narrow them down. Here are the top 10 books we’ve been enjoying lately (in no particular order):

I Love You, Stinky Face

This is an adorable book about a mom telling her son how she would love him no matter what. My son likes to whisper “I love you, stinky face” in our ears now.

Pingo

Pingo is a little boy’s imaginary friend who turns into an imaginary enemy. It’s a cute idea, and my son loves to point out all the things he recognizes in the pictures. He loved this book so much for so long that we actually named our dog Pingo.

Harry and Horsie

This is a book my sister recommended, and we love it. Harry takes a trip into outer space to save his stuffed animal Horsie. One of the lines is “Fast. Super fast. Way too fast!” My toddler repeats this all the time when he runs. I even find myself saying it.

You Are Special

I have heard this book mentioned is so many different settings. When I found it as a board book, I had to have it. Punchinello lives in a society where Wemmicks put star and dot stickers on each other based on judgments. Punchinello learns that there is a way to ignore the judgments and be happy. This is a great book for teaching kids they are children of God.

With Any Luck, I’ll Drive a Truck

This is an awesome book for kids who love trucks. My son got this book for his second birthday and could name almost every truck mentioned in the book. It’s a fun, educational read that makes finding cement trucks, fire trucks, and snow plows on the road that much more exciting.

Eggburt: The Slightly Cracked Egg

When Eggbert’s friends find a crack in his shell, he is forced to leave his home. He tries to cover his crack until he notices the beauty of the cracks in nature. This is one of the books I read when I was a kid. It was always a fun story about an egg that went on an adventure. But as an adult it has been a good reminder that even imperfect things and people can be beautiful. I love when children’s books have deeper meanings!

Nighttime Ninja

This was one of the books that was always sold out when I worked at Scholastic. The artwork is unique, and the story is cute. Pus, there aren’t a ton of words, so it’s one of my top choices for those frustrating nights when I just need to get the kids to bed!

Guess How Much I Love You

This is a classic and another board book I had to have. Little Nutbrown Hare is getting ready for bed and tells his dad how much he loves him. His dad comes up with something that shows he loves him more, and they go back and forth. It’s cute and another fun thing to talk to my toddler about how much I love HIM!

Fanny’s Dream

I have loved this book since I was a kid and was so excited to read it to my son. Fanny dreams of marrying a prince but ends up marrying a farmer and realizing she wouldn’t have it any other way. It has a great message, and if you look closely at the pictures, there are some fun hidden images.

Have Fun, Molly Lou Melon

When I worked at Scholastic, this book was always sold out. It looked so cute that I bought it without even reading it, and I’m so glad I did. Molly Lou Melon has a great imagination and can make anything fun. Kids can learn they don’t need fancy toys to have fun, and the pictures are super cute!
