My husband is a car guy; he loves Chevy trucks (we currently own three); and he is a mechanic. When we found out our first was a boy, the vintage truck nursery theme was pretty obvious. I love the color teal, and the grey and teal just seemed to work with the vintage truck theme. It was so fun to purposefully paint and decorate an entire room while we waited for our little man’s arrival.
I loved the little details we were able to put into the room… like the light switch cover. I’d never considered using the light switch for decoration, but my husband somehow already had the perfect cover!
My awesome sisters and mom threw a baby shower for me with a baby shower with an old truck theme. They had checkered tablecloths, dipsticks (chocolate and caramel dipped pretzel rods), tires (chocolate doughnuts), fuel (Jones soda and water), chips, fruit, and cute metal signs and trucks! It was adorable, and they let me keep the decor and use it in the nursery.
Of course, not every little thing had to do with cars. We found some cute floating shelves, some spice racks for books, and a floor lamp as well. Practical things that blended in well!
I was set on getting a glider of some sort because I knew I’d be spending countless hours holding my little bundle of joy. The glider below has been perfect, and the price isn’t outrageous. I resisted getting a video monitor for the first six months because of the cost, but now I’ll never go back. It gives me such peace of mind to be able to see my kids and know they are safe and asleep.
There are SO many cute things you could add to a vintage car or truck nursery. From model trucks and canvas pictures to truck bed shelves and rustic clocks, there is something for every old car lover. But to be honest, I think picking a few choice decorations without going overboard will make your nursery a place where you want to spend all those hours rocking and feeding your little one.
