COVID-19 Isolation vs. Stay-at-home Mom Life

I’ve been enjoying the memes during this pandemic. The world is in turmoil, and we’re coping. Society makes light of things to deal with the stress. Frankly, and it may be wrong to say but, I’ve enjoyed not being alone.

So many people are talking about how it feels to always be home, to always be with their kids, to worry about germs, to find things to do without leaving the house. This has been my life for years.

Everyone knows first impressions really are important, and that’s true even when it comes to someone walking into your home. What do you notice first when you go into someone’s house? Is it the decor? The clutter or lack of? The color scheme? For me, I notice the smell first.

The Two Products That Have Me Finally Taking Care of My Face

I guess I wasn’t the typical tween girl obsessed with makeup and hair and shaving my legs. For the longest time I only wore base. Maybe a little eye shadow here and there. I did streak my hair blond every 4-6 months, but I didn’t do anything fancy with it. I never blow dried it and didn’t even try straightening or curling it until my senior year of high school. And I know for a fact I was way behind on the whole shaving my legs thing. I had friends who shaved for over a year before I even started worrying about it.

Why I Didn’t Do Anything About My Postpartum Depression

***This is my experience with PPD and my own opinions. I wrote this to get my feelings out. To maybe let someone else know they aren’t the only one feeling this way. To maybe help someone understand their loved one going through PPD.***

(I wrote this a few years ago and finally have the courage to post it. I have since started therapy and changed antidepressants and doses several times. My depression is an ongoing battle.)

I have been coping with postpartum depression for over three years now. I started treating it after my son turned two and added a medication at the end of my second pregnancy. Going on antidepressants was one of the best decisions of my life, but it took me a long time to get to that point. I still have hard days. Sometimes I find myself staring at the wall while my toddler plays and my baby sleeps in my arms, and I’m numb. I have flashbacks to what it was like. I can’t believe I lived like that for so long. What I Learned From 13 Years of Dance

I am a big believer in children participating in extracurricular activities. I can’t wait to start my boys in soccer, karate, football, or swim. Maybe they’ll play an instrument or be in a club in school. Whatever they do, I hope they learn as much as I did as a dancer.

Favorite Quotes in High School

I LOVE quotes. My notebooks and folders were always covered in quotes during high school. I love little sayings that make sense and have meaning and are easy to remember. There are so many good quotes out there, but I want to share some of my favorites from high school that I kind of forgot about.

To be honest, I could go on and on about what each of these quotes meant to me and what they mean to me now, but I won’t bore you with the details. Besides, I think every quote is subject to each person’s individual interpretation for their own life. Enjoy!

10 Silly Ways to Prepare for Motherhood

There really is no preparing for motherhood. For one, you have no idea what it is like to be entirely responsible for an actual human child’s well being until you are. For another, every child, day, and situation is so different. But, let me give you a little idea of what might have prepared me for motherhood. Or, you know, scared me off.

“It wasn’t fair, and it was for the best.” Lessons From Job Loss

This post contains affiliate links. I get commissions for purchases made through these links.

You know how they say, “When it rains, it pours”? They’re right. Whoever they are.

2015 was a rough year for us. From little things like the dishwasher breaking (and doing dishes by hand for 6 months) to bigger things like our car being stolen out of our driveway. But by far the hardest was my husband losing his job. Continue reading ““It wasn’t fair, and it was for the best.” Lessons From Job Loss”
