Why My Medically Complex Child is Exactly What I Needed

I’d never heard the term “medically complex” before, but it is the best way to describe my son. We are still learning about everything going on with him. If you’d asked me a year ago how I would feel about having a child with medical issues, I would have said I’d be terrified. As much as I wish my little boy didn’t have to go through so much, there are so many reasons I am grateful for our situation. My name is Bergan. I’m a married stay-at-home mom of two adorable boys. Sawyer is 5, and Griffin is 2.

I have always loved writing and have learned a lot from other moms’ blogs. But when my youngest ended up in the NICU with multiple health problems, I couldn’t find a lot of the information I was looking for online. My goal is to share helpful information and things I’ve learned and am still learning.

I love to create. I’m addicted to sugar and am such a picky eater. I’m not super social, but I try. I love country music and chilly fall days. I hate the summer. I miss dancing and reading and making my own schedule, but I am loving motherhood and taking care of my sweet boys. My toddler may like to tell me to “Just be happy, Mommy,” and that is exactly what I am trying to do.
