We live in a time when so much is possible. There are so many technological advances and loads of new opportunities. It seems like everyone has some secret to “success,” and there is always something more you should be doing.

From the moment we decided to put an offer on our house, I was set on getting rid of the entryway closet. I grew up in a no-shoe home and planned to continue that with my kids, and the closet didn’t seem ideal. Besides, I liked the idea of a more open entryway.
We got the keys on a Friday, and Saturday my dad tore out the closet while my husband ripped up the carpet. To be honest, I can’t even remember the house with the closet, and I only have two pictures of it. My dad put up drywall and mudded everything, and even with the obvious signs of construction, it looked a ton better!

I missed the phone call. The voicemail made my heart drop. The NICU nurse called to say my baby was stable, but I needed to call back. Thankfully we only got this call once during his 39-day NICU stay. Once was more than enough.

I absolutely freaking love these cookies! They are my favorite, and they turn out perfect every time. I never have to worry that they will be too doughy or too crunchy. One batch makes more than six dozen cookies. You can freeze them, and they are still amazing. I actually prefer them cold and keep them in the fridge.

I was never really into Halloween costumes. I felt silly dressing up and hated the attention. Now that I have kids, I get excited about it! I personally love “homemade” costumes. I don’t mean every stitch has to be sewn at home. I just mean costumes that are put together by the person and not just bought all together at the store.
There’s nothing wrong with store bought costumes, of course. I just love the creativity and uniqueness that comes with putting a costume together. Plus, I love not wasting money, and when you put your own costume together, you’re more likely to reuse parts of it. Sooooo… I’ve compiled some of our simple, more “homemade” costumes for those who might be interested.

I don’t know a lot of people who plan on having a c-section. For most people, it isn’t ideal. For me, the thought of a c-section was terrifying.
My first child was born vaginally. I got to the hospital at 9.5 cm, got an epidural, and had a baby two hours later. I had no reason to expect a c-section the second time. I felt like I should research c-section recovery but didn’t. I don’t known that I really would have wanted to know what to expect, but if you’ve had a c-section, know you’ll be getting one, or just want to be prepared, here are some tips. I’m a Bucket List Mom
…but that doesn’t mean our summer has been extravagant.
I’ve read some things lately about how bucket lists are for things you want to do before you die and not for the summer. I’ve read hate about how bucket lists make us feel like we need to do all of these extravagant things to live up to some ideal. I’ll admit that these articles made me feel like crap for a few minutes. But you know what? I am a bucket list mom, and that is perfect for me and my family.

My husband is a car guy; he loves Chevy trucks (we currently own three); and he is a mechanic. When we found out our first was a boy, the vintage truck nursery theme was pretty obvious. I love the color teal, and the grey and teal just seemed to work with the vintage truck theme. It was so fun to purposefully paint and decorate an entire room while we waited for our little man’s arrival.

Here’s the deal: I am a total sugar addict. I’ve never understood what people meant when they said something was too sweet. I have sweets daily. Like, several times a day. In recent years I’ve sad down with a dozen mini cupcakes and eaten them all in one sitting only to crave more the next day. It’s bad, obviously.

Like most parents, I want to give my kids the best of everything. But trying to find the best product for the best price and the best value that is worth it and will last can be overwhelming. In the mere five years since I became a mother, my house has exploded with toys. Birthdays, Christmas, hand-me-downs, and all the other random times we bring toys home have really added up.
